A series of three books to be read by, or to, children, giving a humanist perspective on three important occasions in our lives
written by Tricia Budd
illustrated by Abigail Steed
The Rosie Stories are designed to help children between 7 and 11 cope with some of the big changes which take place in our lives - weddings, funerals and new babies.
The books, written from a non-religious point of view, can be read by families or in schools. There is an accompanying book of worksheets and ideas for activities based on the stories which can be used by parents or teachers.
Tricia Budd is a retired primary school teacher and an active humanist. She believes it is important to give young people a balanced outlook on life, especially where such significant and possibly traumatic occasions are concerned.
"Personal names are part of what makes each of us an individual. The names we are given will always be associated with who we are, what we look like and what we do."
Rosie Remembers
A funeral
"Dying is a natural end to our lives, yet it is still very hard to prepare our hearts for the death of someone we love. The gap they leave in our lives cannot be filled by anyone else."
Rosie on Camera
A wedding
"I had no idea what a humanist wedding was all about. It was a really happy and relaxed ceremony that I think everyone felt part of."
